Ok, now that the BC 2y olds are pretty well lined up, and we all know that only 2-3 of those usually make it to the Derby, it's time to start looking for those other 16 or so that will enter the starting gate the 1st Sat. in May. There are several running in the Iroquois and an Allow. race 9 at CD this Sunday.

Breeders Cup

There have been 166 horses pre-entered for the Breeders Cup races. The main highlight is that Zenyatta has been entered for the Breeders Cup Classic, and the Ladies Cup, and according to the trainer, her connections are leaning more towards the first.
I'd appreciate to see comments, opinions and handicapping in the upcoming event. Thanks,

Midshipman's Return

Last year's juvenile champion, Midshipman, made a solid return today in an optional claimer at Belmont going 6 1/2f and winning by over 3 lengths with a PF -57.

The Clement Hirsch at Del Mar

It was a very close race, Zenyatta won in the nick of time. I'm wondering if the PF for this race is something to talk about. It look to me like a very slow race, and the Champion won the race on spite of the jockey.

Hiya i am a jockey at nyra (among other places) i will not mention my name but will give you a hint.
My intials are N..A. DID i ever tell you guys i am a 2 time VILOENT FELONE AND I WAS GRANTED a lic. to ride in races by the n.y state racing and wagering board.

I really feel sorry for beating up a cab driver, and causing a guy to have brain surgery........also beat up my gf but they put the hush hush on that one.....Ain't that a hoot ? THEY banned like 30 mutel clerks FOR...

I've read that Mine That Bird is being pointed to this race. I'm wondering how appropriate and wise is it to take this route with the Kentucky Derby winner to prepare for the late summer/fall campaign.

....Just had a revelation looking at the PPs with all of the Ls and Bs. I remember a time when no drugs were legal in the NYRA. If your horse needed Lasix, you might as well forget the triple crown, because your horse couldn't use it at the Belmont. Compared to today, it's a strange thing thinking back at the greats from the 70's, thinking that they started in the NYRA racing as 2yos without medication, progressing though an intense drug free stakes schedule into the late fall. How many people know about a filly named Imp born in 1894 and by Wagner out of Fondling by Fonso?

Between May 22, 1896 and November 9, 1901 she ran 171 times, winning 62, placing second 35 times and third 29 times. Her lifetime earnings were just over $70K.

She raced only 11 times as a two-year-old in 1896, but all between May 22 and July 25.

I was reading the newspaper this afternoon and yes, that is what two-time winning Kentucky Derby soon to be Hall of Fame Jockey Mr. Calvin (Rail) Borel had to say about his chances this Saturday, come the true classic, The Belmont Stakes ( I sure do miss NY). He said he and Mine That Bird are like "bread and butter." Good ol' Calvin, sure has a way with words. I wish him well and hope he wins what is now being called the "Jockey Triple Crown."

Every time I hear or read " The Greatest of All Time ", I think of the man who coined the phrase who indeed was, " The Greatest of All Time ", Muhammad Ali. I had the opportunity to meet the Champ, shook his hand, asked him a few questions. He flew into Seattle to do a promotion and was at the Red Lion Hotel, Sea Tac Airport . . . drove out to see him, will never forget it.
